The rich, savoury beef soup was our clear preference at Seng Fung Damai. The fish soup was much lighter than we liked; if you are after beef tendon or fish slices, our advice from the visit was to arrive early.
At Seng Fung Coffee Shop in Damai, the beef soup was the clear winner for us. It had the deep, savoury flavour we wanted from a breakfast broth: robust, hearty and rich enough to leave an impression. If we were choosing between the two soups we tried, that would be our order.
The fish soup went in a very different direction. It was extremely light, and for our taste it could have used more intensity. Anyone who usually prefers richer broths or heavier seasoning might find it too plain. For someone with similar preferences, our advice would be to order the beef soup.
Finding the shop took a little attention. The premises were small, with dark tinted windows that made it easy to walk past without noticing. Once inside, cutlery and chilli were collected from the self-service area, so we got our own chopsticks, spoon and sauce.
Our other practical note from the visit was to come earlier if beef tendon or fish slices were what you wanted. Both were described as limited items and among the first to sell out. That was advice based on the visit at the time, rather than a guarantee of today’s stock.
The signboard then listed morning-to-early-afternoon hours but did not clearly state a fixed off day. We would not use that old sign as a current opening-hours guide. What remains most useful from our meal is the soup comparison: the beef broth suited us much better than the very light fish soup.

牛肉汤头醇厚浓郁，咸鲜味够，也有那种早餐想喝一碗扎实热汤的满足感。如果平时喜欢味道比较重，这碗会更符合我们的口味。
鱼汤则走非常清淡的路线。对我们来说淡了一点，少了想要的浓郁感。喜欢清汤的人可能有不同感受，但以我们自己的喜好，会更偏向牛肉汤，不会把两种汤都当成同样推荐。
店面不大，玻璃又用了深色 Tinted，从外面看比较容易错过。进去后，筷子、汤匙和辣椒酱要到 Self-service 区自己拿。
原来的探店记录也提醒，牛筋和鱼片比较容易卖完，想吃这两样的话建议早点到。这是当时的供应观察，不代表现在每天的情况都一样。
至于营业资料，当时招牌写了早上到午后的时段，却没有注明固定休息日，所以这里不把旧招牌当作现行时间表。那次吃下来，最想保留的结论还是：爱浓汤的话，我们会选牛肉汤。
