Oriental Kopi (华阳) - Suria Sabah
Personally visited by Sabah Discovery
Visited in 2026
The egg tarts and signature coffee were the reasons we would return after this grand-opening visit. We enjoyed our first Oriental Polo Bun, though it felt premium-priced, and found the Fried Chicken Meat Mee Siam noticeably spicy.
We visited Oriental Kopi at Suria Sabah during its grand opening, so the crowd and service described here belong to that opening-day experience. We arrived around 8.30am, when a queue had already started forming, and the doors opened at about 9am.
Despite the packed setting, we felt the team handled the crowd professionally. Ordering and serving took a little longer, but under those particular opening-day conditions, we found that understandable. By around 11am, the queue had grown considerably. Those timings are memories of this visit, not advice about today’s opening hours or waiting times.
The signature coffee was good and delivered the sort of familiar experience we expected. The egg tarts were a stronger emotional pull for us: we liked them a lot again, and they remain the clearest reason we would come back.
It was our first time trying the Oriental Polo Bun. The large slice of butter was a noticeable part of the experience, and the bun tasted good. At the same time, it felt like a premium-priced choice beside an ordinary Polo Bun. Enjoyment and value were slightly different questions for us here; liking it did not remove that price comparison.
We also tried the Oriental Fried Chicken Meat Mee Siam. It was noticeably spicy, so this is the dish from our meal that we would point towards someone who enjoys a stronger kick. We would not describe it as a mild option based on what we ate.
Our overall impression was positive, especially for the egg tarts and coffee, with reasonable patience for the opening-day pace. The grand-opening offers belonged to that event and are not part of our recommendation for a visit now.
Sabah Discovery’s Take
We'd come back for
Egg tarts and the signature coffee
Egg tarts and coffee were our reliable favourites. The Polo Bun was enjoyable but premium-priced, and service observations belong specifically to the grand opening.
