Freshly fried, hot and juicy chicken with the signature gravy was the highlight of our invited Imago soft-opening visit. We still preferred drumstick or thigh, as the breast was firmer and less tender.

Sabah Discovery was invited by Borenos founder Janice to the Imago soft opening. The opinions below reflect our own experience.

We were happy to see a Sabah-grown brand expand. Borenos was already one of our preferred fried-chicken brands, with a taste we found distinctive compared with the usual chains. That local connection was part of the occasion, but the food was still what mattered in the meal itself.

The chicken arrived freshly fried and hot, and we found it juicy overall. The breast was firmer and less tender than the drumstick or thigh. It did not change the positive overall impression, but it reinforced our usual preference for the leg cuts.

The signature gravy was a strong point. We liked it over the chicken, and that combination would be our main reason to return: hot fried chicken with the gravy we already enjoyed.

Our preference for drumstick or thigh also carried over to earlier delivery-app orders. Up to that point, those requests had been fulfilled every time in our own experience. That was a personal record, not a guarantee that a preferred cut would always be available or supplied.

At the soft opening, we noted self-order and payment kiosks, followed by collection at the counter. These describe the branch’s arrangements then. The menu also highlighted Full Spring Chicken Meal as its top must-order, but we are not giving that whole-chicken meal a taste verdict here.

The soft opening was on 2026-07-06. A separate Imago-only Buy One Get One Free promotion was advertised for 2026-07-07 to 2026-07-09, limited to the first 300 customers each day, one set per customer, for dine-in or takeaway. That offer is historical, not a current deal.

For us, the strongest part of this visit remained the juicy fried chicken and signature gravy, with drumstick or thigh our personal first choice.

看到沙巴本地品牌继续发展，我们确实开心。Borenos 原本就是我们比较喜欢的炸鸡品牌之一，味道和一般连锁店有自己的区别。不过支持本地品牌是背景，实际吃到的炸鸡表现，还是这一餐的重点。

这次鸡是现炸的，热腾腾，整体吃起来多汁。鸡胸的肉质比较实，没有鸡腿或上腿那么嫩。这一点没有盖过整体的好感，但也再次提醒我们，自己还是偏爱腿肉。

招牌酱汁很加分，淋在鸡肉上是我们喜欢的吃法。如果再来，最想点的还是热炸鸡配这份酱汁。

以前通过外送平台点餐，我们也会备注想要鸡腿或上腿。到当时为止，自己的几次要求都有被满足。不过这只是个人经历，并不保证每次都有指定部位，或每次都能照要求提供。

试营业时看到自助点餐和付款机器，完成后到柜台取餐。这是当时这间分店的安排。菜单也把 Full Spring Chicken Meal 列为头号必点，不过这里不会把它当成这次明确吃过的整鸡餐来评价味道。

试营业日期是 2026年7月6日，另有仅限 Imago 的买一送一活动，日期为 2026年7月7日至7月9日，每天首 300 名顾客、每人限 1 套，堂食或外带皆可。这些都是已经过去的活动资料，并不是现在仍可使用的优惠。

这次最喜欢的，还是多汁的炸鸡配招牌酱汁。部位方面，我们会优先选鸡腿或上腿，同时保留鸡胸较实、没有那么嫩的感受。
