Jun Ji’s soy sauce chicken was tender and aromatic, but the overall meal did not reach the huge expectations online praise had created for us. The Honey Glazed Thigh was a little too sweet for our taste, and the Fresh Farm Chicken we wanted had sold out.

We went to Jun Ji at Central Plaza after seeing strong online praise, including claims placing it among Sabah’s best chicken rice. Those were other people’s claims, not a verdict we could take for granted, but they did set our expectations high.

We intended to order Fresh Farm Chicken. By around noon it had sold out, so we did not get to taste it. Our impressions from this visit therefore come from the alternatives we actually ate.

The braised soy sauce chicken was solid. The meat was tender and had a good soy aroma, making it a dependable part of the meal. Honey Glazed Thigh was less to our personal taste because it felt somewhat too sweet. When we shared that feedback, the owner was receptive.

A companion who had been before felt that the rice fragrance was weaker than on an earlier visit. That was their own comparison as a return customer, rather than a universal fact about the rice or a change we could verify ourselves.

Overall, we found it decent and reliable, but it did not produce the big wow we had gone in expecting. We also recognised that the online hype may have raised the bar in our minds. Tender soy sauce chicken was a positive; it simply sat alongside a sweeter thigh than we preferred and the disappointment of missing our original order.

我们带着网路上的高评价来到 Central Plaza 的峻记，其中不乏把它说成沙巴顶尖鸡饭的分享。那是别人的评价，不能直接当成事实，不过确实让我们来之前的期待拉得很高。

原本想点农场鸡，可是到中午左右已经卖完，所以这次没有吃到。关于它的味道，我们还不能下判断，这餐的感受只能以实际点到的东西来说。

酱油鸡表现不错，肉嫩，酱油香气也好，是稳妥的一道。蜜汁鸡腿则对我们来说稍微甜了一点，这是个人口味。我们和老板提起时，老板愿意听取意见，这点有加分。

同行、以前来过的朋友觉得，饭香比之前弱。这属于朋友自己回访的比较，我们没有把它当成所有人都会有的感受，也不能据此断定店家的水准一直在变。

整体来说，这餐不差，吃得稳妥，只是没有网路好评让我们想象的那么惊艳。我们也承认，可能是自己带着太高期待而来。酱油鸡的嫩和香是优点，蜜汁鸡腿偏甜、原本想吃的鸡卖完，则是同一次体验的另一面。
