Jisoo Korean Fried Chicken - ITCC

Jisoo Korean Fried Chicken was a little hidden inside ITCC when we visited. Our meal covered its buffet experience and several other dishes, with some very clear favourites alongside a few disappointments. The strongest overall impression was that the freshly fried chicken had been treated well.

The buffet arrangement at the time allowed refills of chicken wings, tenders, thigh meat and several sides. We are describing that visit’s format, rather than promising the same buffet or terms today. The chicken was fried to order, arriving hot with a crisp exterior and juice still inside.

The tenders were a pleasant surprise. They were described as breast meat, yet we did not find them tough or dry. Their texture was much better than that description might have led us to expect.

A two-person buffet then included JJ01 Army Stew. We enjoyed its sausages and noodles, which gave it a comforting, supper-like feel. The sides were less consistent: onion rings and wedges were average, and the batter on the king oyster mushrooms felt a little too thick and heavy for us.

Our personal favourite was BC02 Cheesy Buttermilk Chicken. Boneless chicken thigh, mozzarella and fragrant buttermilk sauce made a rich, indulgent combination. The cheese pull was part of the fun, but the sauce and chicken were what made us want another bite. During our meal, turning off the heat once the cheese had melted helped avoid burning it.

Not everything worked. The Bulgogi beef was too tough on this visit, and the fish cakes were fairly average. We gave that feedback directly to the owner, who was receptive. We appreciated the response without changing our opinion of what we had eaten.

We would remember Jisoo for the Cheesy Buttermilk Chicken and hot, juicy fried chicken first. The old buffet prices, time limits, waste charges, set prices and last-call hours are not being presented as current arrangements.
