AYOI - 88 Marketplace

We stopped at AYOI in 88 Marketplace on a very hot afternoon, looking for something to drink. Staff recommendations guided our order, and the two drinks we tried offered quite different ways to cool down.

Taro Fresh Milk was the clear favourite for us. It was smooth and rich, with a strong, natural taro flavour. The sweetness felt balanced, so the taro remained the main impression instead of being lost behind sugar.

Staff described the taro as being hand-peeled, steamed and mashed in-house each day. The smooth texture and pronounced taro flavour were what made that particular drink work for us.

Winter Melon Lemonade was the more refreshing option. It had a sweet-tart balance that worked especially well in that afternoon’s heat, with green tea jelly included in our drink. We enjoyed it as a different choice from the richer taro milk.

The business explained that the winter melon base was brewed from imported Taiwanese winter melon bricks and described the green tea jelly as house-made. Those details provided context for our order, while our own verdict was simply that the drink was refreshing and enjoyable.

There were other things on the menu that caught our attention, including pineapple iced tea, Eggies Cat Paw waffles and thick butter toast. We did not try them, so there is no taste verdict on those items here.

For a repeat order based on this visit, we would choose Taro Fresh Milk first. Winter Melon Lemonade would be our choice when we wanted something lighter and more refreshing. This review belongs specifically to the 88 Marketplace outlet we visited.
