Gam Tong (金糖) - 360 Bundusan

Our visit to Gam Tong at 360 Bundusan fell around the Mother’s Day period, but the part we would remember beyond the occasion was the food. The outlet felt comfortable for a family gathering, and one dish made a particularly strong impression.

That was the Iced Sweet & Sour Pork. The ice rapidly chilled the outer layer, producing an exceptionally crisp bite. The crunch felt almost glass-like, and the textural contrast was what made it such a talking point at the table.

There was a trade-off. The portion looked a little smaller than the regular version, so it was not simply a case of getting more of the same dish. Even so, we felt the unusual exterior made it worthwhile. Of everything we ate, this was the clearest showstopper.

The house soy sauce was another memorable part of the meal. Staff recommended a first-draw soy sauce which they said had been fermented for about a year. We found the sauce highly fragrant, naturally sweet and impressive. That sensory impression was what stayed with us.

The other dishes gave the meal solid options alongside the pork. Brinjal with salted fish was solid, dry soya beancurd had good texture, and the fresh steamed hybrid grouper performed well. We were generally happy with those plates, even though none displaced the iced pork as the main surprise.

A sweet, refreshing pomelo dessert helped finish the heavier meal. Along with the comfortable room, it made the visit feel well suited to sharing food with family. Our strongest recommendation remains the Iced Sweet & Sour Pork, with its smaller-looking portion balanced against a texture we enjoyed.
